Metallic Makeup Trend in Drugstores: BeYu Mattalic Try On & Review

Metallic trend is slowly stepping on my nerves, it's everywhere. But I was still curious enough to see if drugstore alternatives suit my expectations. There's no way I would spend more than 20€ on a single metallic matte lipstick I would wear only on special occasion. BeYu came out with Mattalic Collection that has high performance while it won't burst your spending bubble. It has a true 80's vibe to it. New makeup at L'Oreal and Maybelline

L'Oreal Paris and Maybelline are blooming just when we thought they won't. A new extensive set of products stormed into our drugstores before we've (almost) quit. Maybelline made some drastic changes while L'Oreal released some pretty sweet pieces as well. L'Oreal Superstar line with the front star J.Lo is all about black, big and dramatic.

Remember past 2-phase mascaras with white side for dramatic, spidery lashes? Well, L'Oreal Paris re-started everything all over again. This time, improved L'Oreal False Lash Superstar Mascara (15,65€, drugstores like DM, Muller) brings big and voluminous lashes without clumps. Natural is not the flirting word with this mascara. White base makes lashes thicker and pronounced while second layer gives ultra black finish. First white layer has a same-like consistency as regular mascara, no fibers or particles whatsoever. I was personally always a fan of these kind of mascaras and I still remember my first golden L'Oreal tube in high school. The brush shape is nothing extra. Keep in mind, that this mascara does clump lashes a bit but I personally love big, almost spidery lashes. Visible and huge lashes make me happy. Can't say it's my favourite but I like the finished result altogether. If you're still grieving the past version, I'm sure you'll love new one as well.

L'Oreal Super Liner Superstar (10,19€, drugstores) might be the best eyeliner that I've ever tried. Yes indeed, your ultimate eyeliner freak likes this thingie so much. Bendable brush tip is just perfect for adjusting to your eye shape. Ultra black formula is strong enough to be layered over powder eyeshadows. Ah, I just hate when an eyeliner stops working because of layering over powder products. Does that happen to you too? Well, not anymore. I've been using this product for over several months now and it's still running smoothly. On top of all, it doesn't crease on bare eyelids. It's almost as waterproof and doesn't crack with movement. Finish is not matte but rather satin smooth. 5 Stars from me!

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette (11,90€, drugstores like DM and Muller) is a rather delightful discovery on our drugstore shelves. Pigmentation is way better and improved in comparison to original The Nudes palette (review here). If you love new Essence palettes with super buttery eyeshadows, this has almost the same formula. They are richly pigmented and quite soft as they tend to crumble with high pressure. Still, I had no problems wearing them all day - only the darker shades slightly faded in intensity. No creasing or transferring whatsoever. Also, shade combination is pretty unique but still in the rows of neutral and mauve. Swatches are made without a primer, on bare skin!

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick (6,99€ a piece, drugstores) are my personal gems out of them all. I was so drawn to them, that I even managed to infect my co-workers. Finally, new matte lipsticks on our market. Well, not so much. They are actually in the same category as NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, moussey and airy in texture. Above all, I got some feedback that the brighter shades actually don't dry up totally matte with time. And yes, I totally understand that it is a pretty good argument to be upset about them. Still, I choose the nudest out of them all - Nude Thrill, a brownish peach, and Nude Flush, modern mauve rose. I need to emphasise that I personally love them. They're not totally matte but rather a satin finish. They apply as soft mousse lipglosses with a bit of shine. Shine tends to disappear (at least on these 2 nude shades) within an hour or two. You're left with a comfortable formula that lasts up to 5 hours. It's not the most long wearing product on the market, but the nice feel on the lips repays it all. As a note, be careful at choosing colours. Possessed Plum is apparently the patchiest out of them all. Oh, and I bought both of them on my own - not to be mistaken. 

Don't forget to blot Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks with a tissue, if you prefer more of a satin-matte finish. It makes all the difference, while formula is still comfortable and mousse-like. Color is slightly less intense and saturated but still wonderful.

My highlight is definitely the L'oreal Paris Superstar Eyeliner, which quickly became my ultimate necessity. Also, I'm religiously wearing my nude Vivid Matte Liquids everyday. Maybelline The Blushed Nudes and L'Oreal Superstar are favourites too, just not as intensely. Be careful before purchasing Vivid Matte Liquids - just to be clear, if you're on a hunt after super duper matte lipstick, Vivid Matte Liquid is not ''THE IT''. Maybelline and L'Oreal Paris are available worldwide in almost any nearby drugstore (DM, Tuš Drogerija, Muller for Slovenia).

What better season than Christmas and New Year's festivity, where you need no excuse to fully load your pretty face with glitters, shimmers and shifting colours. It's probably the only time when you can experiment with icy sparkling products and overly shimmery eyeshadow, lashes and brows. Artdeco picked a perfect timing as glitters seem to be the ''IT'' product for festive end of 2015. Glitter roots, glitter hair, glitter brows, glitter lashes...they are all hot looks right now...and I dare you to try at least one of them.

Multitasker Artdeco Sparkling Lash Drops (about 9,95-15,00€) can easily serve for glitter brows, glitter lashes, glitter base for glitter roots and even inner corner highlight. Sticky base is fully functional on any sort of face surface and dries into a non-sticky, budge-proof texture. It's easily applied to your lashes or brows as you can only need to brush it through with a mascara type of brush. You can layer it over any sort of mascara or brow gel while it fixes in terms of minutes. No fallout, no mess. Glitters in this product are somewhat of a light champagne colour - universally suitable for all eye looks. It's definitely not a necessity for every day, but if you're craving to spice up your look for the festive season, give it a go! It's a lovely multitasker and you're pretty much well covered in glitters. 

Najbolj vsestranski izdelek v kolekciji je Sparkling Lash Drops (okoli 9,95€, naroči tukaj) ki zlahka služi kot dodatek obrvem, trepalnicam, osvetljevalec notranjih kotičkov očesa in tudi baza za nadaljnje plastenje bleščic. Namreč, gel je ob iztisu dokaj lepljiv in se zlahka oprime vseh delov telesa. Z nekaj minutami pa se strdi v nemotečo teksturo, ki poda le lesk. Bleščice ne odpadajo in oblačila bodo ostala čista. Zlahka se plasti preko navadnih maskar, gelov za obrvi in ostalih kozmetičnih izdelkov. Sam nanos je prav tako čisto enostaven, saj gel pokrtačimo na predelih s čopičem, ki je enak obliki krtačke. Barva samih bleščic je nekje med nevtralno šampanjec in pristaja vsakemu ličenju. Vsekakor ta majhna zadevica ni nujno potrebna za vsak dan, vendar če hrepenite po kančku bleščic, bo ta pokril vse predele vašega telesa.

Artdeco Glam Stars Liquid Eye Liner #11 (about 10,80€) is a taupe based glitter gel liner with a precise tip for any face corner. You can layer it over black liquid liner or add a touch of sparkle in your inner corners. It would look extra special over brown liner. Again, it dries down and glitters don't budge. I love, love to add lighter eyeliners in my inner eye corner for that extra glow. Easy peasy. With thin tip you can easily draw thin lines and shapes.

Artdeco Glam Stars Liquid Eye Liner (okoli 10,95€, naroči tukaj) v odtenku 11 Platinum je prozoren gel, ki vsebuje ogromno število platinasto rjavih delcev za osvetlitev. Kakor pove že samo ime, ima izdelek tanek aplikator za bolj precizen nanos. Z njim se zlahka riše majhne oblike ali tanke linije. Uporablja se lahko preko navadnega črtnega črtala za bolj glamurozen videz, obenem pa se lahko sam plasti tudi na spodnji del veke ali notranje kotičke očes. S delci se lahko tako osvetli notranji predel očesa, obenem pa bleščice niso tako intenzivno vidne. Sama uporabljam to tehniko tudi čez celo leto, malce bleščic nikoli ne škodi. Tudi ta izdelek se po nanosu posuši, bleščice pa se ne premikajo po obrazu. 

Artdeco Glam Stars Lip Glosses  (about 11,99€) are available in 3 different colours for Arctic Beauty. All three shades are shifting with different tones, the inspiration is purely from Arctic aurora. So-called chameleon effect is stronger at lighter shades while my pick, 31 Glam Frozen Orchid, is a shimmery pink with blue and yellow shift. Lips look juicy and plump with an extra dimension and there's no signs of visible frost effect. I love Artdeco lipglosses in general, as they are non-sticky, comfortable on the lips and smell delicious. Glam Stars in particular are usually shimmery and have a flower-vanilla scent. Doe foot applicator is soft enough, while packaging looks luxurious. In terms of opacity, they cover pretty well for a lipgloss, I'd say about sheer to medium opacity. Wet look and shiny particles make your lips look fuller. I've paired #31 with corresponding lipstick 105 Cool Coral.

Artdeco Glam Stars Lip Gloss (okoli 11,95€, naroči tukaj) sestavlja kolekcijo v treh novih barvnih odtenkih. Sama formula bleščila za ustnice je že stalnica na Artdeco policah, vendar so tokrat dodali tri nove, omejene odtenke. Navdih so črpali iz polarnega sija, v katerem se prepletajo lestvice barv. Tako imenovane ''kameleon'' barve v samem bleščilu se prelivajo drugače ob različnih osvetlitvah. Najbolj prelivajoča sta svetlejša odtenka, medtem ko je moja izbira, 31 Glam Frozen Orchid, nevtralno svetlikajoča roza s prelivajočo svetlo modro in rumeno. Bleščilo naredi ustnice sijoče, mehke in polne. Na splošno so Artdeco bleščila zelo udobna, nelepljiva in dišijo po karameli ali cvetlicah z vanilijo. Če se dotaknem še prekrivnosti, je bleščilo v dobrem rangu srednje prekrivnosti. Sama sem ga na slikah uporabila v kombinaciji s Perfect Color šminko v odtenku 105 Cool Coral.

Artdeco added three new shades to their permanent line of Perfect Color (about 12€). They might look terrifying on the first glance due to frosty finish, but fear not! There are actually one cream finish and 2 frosts, which don't look as frosty once on the lips. 105 Cool Coral in particular, looks like a rose with golden shimmer. On the lips, it's rather cooler and less frosty on me. It's perfectly wearable even if you hate frost finishes. They made a perfect balance between frosty enough, to make fuller lips, and creamy enough, to make it look wearable. As I've said in the past, Perfect Color formula is just outstanding for the price. It's creamy, opaque and smells like vanilla. Packaging is almost better than high-end versions and it's heat resistent. On top of all, Arctic Beauty colours have a cute detailed snowflake on the actual cap. Cute!

Artdeco je poleg kolekcije bleščil dodal tudi tri nove odtenke njihovih klasičnih Perfect Color (okoli 9,95€, naroči tukaj) šmink. Odtenki lahko na prvi pogled izgledajo dokaj zastrašujoče zaradi dodanih svetlečih delcev, vendar boste ob nanosu presenečeni. Namreč, šminka nima močnega, zastarelega bleščečega zaključka, ampak se nanaša skoraj kot kremna verzija rdečila. Če vas je kljub temu strah, lahko izberete odtenek 101, ki ne vsebuje dodatnih svetlikajočih delcev. 105 Cool Coral, katero nosim na slikah, je nevtralno temno roza z zlatim sijajem. Brez bleščila je šminka vsekakor videti malce toplejša. Formula samih Perfect Color šmink je neverjetna, saj nudi ugodje, močno obarvanost, vonj vanilije in neprodušno embalažo, ki preprečuje vdor toplote. Za piko na i imajo šminke iz Arctic Beauty dodan simbol snežinke.

The main star of the collection is Arctic Beauty Dust (14,99-30,00€), a perfectly wrapped up silver/pink glitters in a single spritz. Vanity-worthy packaging is just luxurious and it will make you feel like a hollywood lady. At first, I was pretty confused what to do with it and how to actually use it. Then glitter roots came along and I was loading up my hair with shimmer powder without a shame. What I like about this particular beauty dust, is that shimmery powder doesn't transfer as easily as I thought at first. Particles pretty much stay in place and if you top them up with a hair spray, you're golden. I also used in on my cheeks for extra sparkle. It has a flowery scent and delicate shimmery powder transfers evenly on your chest, arms and hair. 

Najbolj svetlikajoča zvezda kolekcije je vsekakor Arctic Beauty Dust (okoli 19,95€, naroči tukaj), popolno oblečen srebrno/roza subtilen prah. Tale majhen kos je popoln dekorativni dodatek za mizo ličil, saj se boste ob pogledu nanj počutili kot Hollywoodska dama. Priznam, da sem bila sprva malce zbegana kako in kje ta izdelek uporabljati. Hitro sem ugotovila, da je primeren tako za kožo kot tudi lase, obenem pa še odišavi s subtilnim vonjem vanilije. Že čez nekaj ur sem nanašala ta čudežni prah na moje lase. Končni rezultat je dokaj minimalističen a hkrati pravljičen, saj doda svetlobo na pravih mestih. Če vse skupaj utrdite še z lakom za lase, potem imate zagotovljeno magičnost za cel dan. Uporabljam ga tudi na vrhu lic, po dekolteju in rokah. Odličen magičen dodatek za novoletno ali božično zabavo.

Arctic Beauty is truly full of surprises and prismatic beauty items. It's something different for that festive feel yet it's delicate and light like inspirational aurora. Glitters and shimmers can be your worst enemy throughout the entire year so it's perfectly understandable to fully incorporate them into your New Year's look or Christmas Eve makeup. I love to take a plunge into glitters if only there's a chance. While Arctic Beauty Dust might not be a cup of tea for every day, I'm sure you will like Perfect Color lipsticks and Glam Stars Lipgloss on your daily basis. Glam Stars Liquid Eye Liner is not bad either, just a small pop of light into your tear duct. New Bourjois Eye-catching Products: Brown Push Up Mascara & Lash Machine

Bourjois recently focused on adding additional eye-catching bits for full and dramatic lashes. Being totally inexperienced at Bourjois eye department, I've dived into testing with high hopes. I had especially high expectations for Lash Machine fibres. Remember those early sticky versions of white mascaras for extra volume? I've been a massive fan but slowly totally forgot about it with years. Lash Machine seems like a 21st century interpretation for massive lashes.

Bourjois nam je pred kratkim postregel s kupom novosti za trepalnice, kar je vsekakor pritegnilo marsikatero oko. Le kdo si ne želi zapeljivo dolgih in dramatičnih trepalnic? Sama sem sicer še dokaj nedolžna v  Bourjois oddelku za trepalnice, vendar sem skočila v testiranje z visokimi upi, kakor se tudi spodobi pri tako dobri znamki. Predvsem sem največ pričakovala od nenavadne Lash Machine, belih vlaken za dramatični volumen in dolžino. Se še mogoče spomnite prvih, a danes starih belih maskar za volumen trepalnic? Takrat sem ravno začela uporabljati maskaro in vem, da sem bila navdušena, vendar sem z leti pozabila na ta dodatek. Vsekakor me Lash Machine spomni na preteklost, ampak je nedvomno noviteta 21.stoletja.

Bourjois Lash Machine (about 12,50€, online) indeed consists of volume boosting fibres that should be applied between two mascara layers. White fibres stick to the first mascara layers while another coat of mascara mask them down. Lashes look consequently fuller and longer. While I unconditionally agree on double volume effect, the lenght itself is not as improved as I would like. Actually the statement from Bourjois is totally true - it lengthens lashes for about 15%. Volume and thickening is the main benefit. While Lash Machine is a totally unnecessary step at first glance, it's probably the best investment for dramatic and thick lashes. As you might have noticed, I'm a massive fan of huge, spidery lashes due to my naturally poor and blonde lashes. Lash Machine has become a huge part in my lash routine and I'm already planning to get myself a backup as it is a limited product in some countries. I absolutely love it and pictures obviously doesn't do it justice. I used it with their new Bourjois Volume Glamour Push Up Mascara. Less clumps with regular mascara, due to less layering, and easy removing is also a good thing to point out. Just be careful with application as the fibres must be applied on wet first layer of mascara. Still, keep in mind that the fibres are not irritating but lens wearers and extra sensitive eyes are not the best beat, even though Bourjois claims that's perfectly safe.

Bourjois Lash Machine (okoli 12-14€ v drogerijah Muller & DM, omejena izdaja) je izdelek, ki navdušuje z belimi vlakni, katera dodajo trepalnicam volumen med dvema nanosoma maskare. Vlakna se tako oprimejo prvega, še vedno mokrega sloja maskare, za tem pa vlakna zakrijemo in odebelimo z drugim slojem. Trepalnice tako avtomatsko izgledajo gostejše, bolj vidne in celo malce daljše. Čeprav se popolnoma strinjam z volumnom in večjo gostoto, vlakna sicer podaljšajo trepalnice le za 15%, kakor tudi trdi znamka Bourjois. Sama sem sicer velika oboževalka gostih in že malce pajkastih trepalnic, ki so močno vidne tudi na daleč. Verjetno si predstavljate moje navdušenje nad prvo uporabo Lash Machine - ostala sem brez besed, saj imam naravno dokaj kratke, ravno rastoče in svetlo blond trepalnice. Dejansko sem tako očarana, da že iščem rezervno Lash Machine, preden pobegnejo iz prodaje z omejeno izdajo. Na slikah sem uporabila Lash Machine v kombinaciji z Volume Glamour Push Up maskaro in nisem imela večjih težav z grudicami, kot jih imam ponavadi z neomejenimi sloji navadne maskare. Lash Machine se zlahka odstrani, obenem pa vlakna niti malo niso dražila moji oči. Kljub temu, dvakrat premislite nakup, če imate zelo občutljive oči ali želite popolno ločene trepalnice.

Bourjois Volume Glamour Push Up Mascara (about 12,50€, online) is probably the most iconic Bourjois mascara line that was recently expanded with brown, waterproof and ultra black interpretation. Already owning their Liner Clubbing Eyeliner in Brown Vibes, I couldn't resist trying out Push Up in 72 Fabulous Brown, a darkened brown. And since my eyelashes are blond anyway, I wasn't expecting any problems with visibility of brown hue. Surprisingly, brown mascara dries up to fairly darkened brown that's almost bordering black. I appreciate extra definition as there's nothing worse than a light coloured mascara for every day, yet it's still not as harsh on my undefined face like ultra black mascaras. The pick is actually totally up to you - if you appreciate subtle black browns, than Push Up Fabulous Brown is perfect. Still, if you prefer something more ''out there'', this is not  light or brown enough, even on my blonde lashes. Wand-wise, it has a typical mascara wand that's not plastic. It's pretty big and a bit clumsy but nonetheless I like the final effect. Typically I start to like mascaras after a good month when the consistency is less wet. Overall, it's a solid mascara pick and layers without a problem, but it doesn't exceed my old personal favourite.

Bourjois Volume Glamour Push Up Mascara (okoli 12,50€ v drogerijah Muller & DM) je verjetno najbolj popularna Bourjois linija maskar, ki je bila nedavno povečana za tri člane - Vodoodporna, Rjava in Ultra črna verzija. Ker že dolgo časa uporabljam tudi njihov Liner Clubbing v rjavem odtenku, sem želela preizkusiti rjavo maskaro v 72 Fabulous Brown. Sicer maskara ni opazno rjava ampak bolj temno rjava, ki se že bliža črni barvi. Moje trepalnice so sicer svetlo blond, ampak sem imela kljub temu težave pri vidnosti rjavih tonov. Cenim dodatno definicijo mojih trepalnic z malce temnejšim odtenkom, hkrati pa ni tako ostra sprememba kot sama črna barva. Izbira je sicer popolnoma odvisna od Vas - če bi radi preizkusili skoraj neopazno temno rjavo, potem je Fabulous Brown čudovita. Če pa iščete bolj opazen in čist rjav odtenek maskare, potem bo Push Up razočaranje, sploh če imate naravno zelo temne ali črne trepalnice. Sama krtačka ni plastična in je v velikosti dokaj velika, kar malce oteži nanos. Kljub temu, sem zadovoljna z učinkom in lepo definiranimi trepalnicami kar se redko zgodi v prvem mesecu uporabe. Popoln potencial maskare se razvije pri moji uporabi šele po mesecu odprtja, ko postane formula malce bolj gosta. Če povzamem, je Push Up maskara trdna izbira in jo priporočam, vendar (še) ni moja najljubša izbira.

And if we're already talking about brown, Bourjois Liner Clubbing (about 8-10€) in 84 Brown Vibes is my good old trusty brown eyeliner that lasted me for months and months. It dries down into a more shiny finish with warm, reddish specks of shimmer. It's flattering but still soft enough to be worn on everyday basis. Goes well with every eye colour but makes blue eyes pop even more. The brush is not the best, I won't lie, but once you get the hange on it, it's much less stressful. Formula is quite fluid and watery but still opaque. The brush could be better, while it allows a more precise line if you're opting for more thin line. As the application goes I'm not that impressed but it's actually one of the rare finds with brown base within drugstore shelves. It doesn't flake yet it's not waterproof so it can be smudged out if you're not careful.

Če že ravno testiram rjave odtenke, potem lahko v zbirko dodam še starega prijatelja Bourjois Liner Clubbing (okoli 8€ v drogerijah Muller & DM) v odtenku 84 Brown Vibes. Je tekoče črtalo za oči, ki je vreden zaupanja tudi po mesecih in mesecih uporabe in se lesketa v temno rjavem odtenku z neopaznimi, toplimi bleščečimi delci. Laska prav vsako barvo oči, a najlepše poudari prav modre oči. Posuši se v dokaj sijoč zaključek. Črtalo je zaradi subtilne rjave primeren za vsak dan in hkrati dovolj enotno poudari oči. Sam čopič je standardne oblike, ki jo je sicer malce težje uporabiti, a lahko ustvari zelo tanke linije črt. Tekstura je precej tekoča a dokaj obarvana. Z nanosom sicer nimam večjih težav, vendar je pazljivost in mirna roka vsekakor potrebna. Liner Clubbing črtalu oprostim malce napora z nanosom le zaradi redkega rjavega odtenka na drogerijskih policah. Dobra stran je tudi to, da se črtalo ne drobi in ne lušči s kože. Obenem pa tudi ni vodoodporen in se lahko včasih razmaže zaradi neprevidnosti.

It's not the easiest solution to have a perfect line or a flick but it's a lovely change of pace with less harsh effect than usual black eyeliner. Volume Glamour Push Up Mascara and Liner Clubbing are in permanent line, while Lash Machine is just a limited thing, at least in Slovenia.

Lash Machine močno poudari volumen in doda gostoto, vendar trepalnice podaljša le za okoli 15%. Kljub vsemu toplo priporočam ta nenavadna vlakna za močno opazne trepalnice. Bourjois Volume Glamour Push Up v rjavem odtenku je odlična izbira za malce drugačen videz v vsakdanjiku, ampak formula maskare ni moja najljubša. Kljub temu lepo poudari trepalnice in doda volumen. Če imate naravno zelo temne trepalnice, potem bodo rjavi toni vsekakor manj opazni. ''Oldie goldie'' Liner Clubbing črtalo je še vedno sveže tekoč tudi po okoli 6 mesecih uporabe. Ni najlažja izbira za nanos, vendar je toplo rjava barva vredna poskusa. Volume Glamour Push Up maskara in Liner Clubbing sta na voljo v redni prodaji.
